Specific kit for the qualitative, rapid and specific detection of Somatic Coliphages in water samples intended for human consumption.

Contamination of water by pathogenic Escherichia coli represents a major public health problem, and most pathogenic strains of E. coli isolated in water cause persistent diarrhea. Some of these strains (enterohemorrhagic E. coli) are capable of producing toxins similar to those produced by and particularly aggressive for humans: the toxin Stx-1.
Their spread (EHEC) is assuming particular importance and this subgroup includes the strain E. coli O157:H7 responsible for some important waterborne epidemics. The causes were attributed to the inefficiency of the water purification treatment, during a particularly rainy period that had led to significant soil leaching, and to the presence of sources of environmental contamination (e.g. livestock farms and pastures) that had contributed to the pollution of the water supply source. Due to the methods of waterborne diffusion, there is also keen interest in irrigation and sprouting water. Two distinct investigation kits are available: one for the specific research of toxins, the other for the determination of E. coli O157:H7 responsible for toxin production.

With real-time results of the search for E.coli O157:H7 in the analyzed water samples
The system allows for automatic interpretation of results, real-time viewing, and online availability. Sigmoid curves corresponding to positive (+) samples indicate the presence of E. coli O157:H7. Straight lines indicate that the analyzed samples are negative (o) for E. coli O157:H7.
